Before choosing a material

01

Three different supply discussions

Castables form a lining or component during installation. Repair mixes address defined maintenance areas, while mortars are selected for brick joints and compatible joint-filling work. These products serve different functions and should not be substituted by name alone.

02

Installation conditions matter

For castables, describe thickness, anchors, mixing equipment and access. For repair mixes, identify repair depth, application equipment and whether work is planned cold or hot. Mortar selection should consider the adjoining brick and joint design.

03

Plan beyond the bagged material

Discuss storage, mixing, curing and dry-out requirements for the selected product. The installation procedure and responsibilities should accompany the material specification. Send the job description first if detailed drawings are not yet available.
