General product and buying guidance. You can contact us before preparing a complete specification; the final grade and supply scope are discussed for your requirement.
Say whether you are repairing or relining
A local patch and a complete kiln-hood reline are different enquiries. Mark the area on a photo or sketch and explain what will remain in place. Include the condition of the neighbouring lining and whether anchors will be inspected or replaced. If these details are unknown, state that clearly and start with the photo.
Provide an area or volume before an exact tonnage
An approximate area, proposed thickness or existing drawing is useful when the required tonnage has not yet been calculated. Keep the quantity basis explicit. Converting geometry into a supply weight depends on the selected material and the agreed allowance; do not assume one density for every castable.
Describe access and the installation method
Explain how material and equipment can reach the work area and which placement methods are available. Mention mixing equipment and the responsible installer if known. A material intended for one application method should not be treated as automatically suitable for another. The selected product’s instructions govern its preparation and placement.
Include the shutdown and restart context
Give the expected work window and any restriction on curing or initial heat-up. Ask for the selected material’s installation, curing and dry-out requirements rather than a generic schedule copied from another job. Coordinating these steps with the responsible technical team is part of preparing a usable supply package.
Compare the offer line by line
Ask each offer to name the product or proposed grade, quantity and weight basis, bag or other packing unit, batch identification, storage conditions and applicable documents. Identify the delivery destination and the requested scope separately. Price per tonne is difficult to compare when quantities, product scope or delivery terms differ.
A short message that starts the discussion
For example: “We are planning a kiln-hood repair. We have photos but no complete material list yet. Can you discuss castable options for this area?” Add the destination country and any known dimensions or timing. This is an enquiry example, not a real project case or a commitment on price, stock or lead time.
